The reading life of Tyiesha Kearsley
The whole time when I was in school, I can't remember the first time I every picked up a book until I got to the 8th grade. When I first started the 8th grade, I did not want to read but once I got to Mr.Locker's class, I had to read. There was no ifs, ands, or buts about it. In the beginning of the year Mr.Locker had a goal for the 8th graders. We had to read at least 50 books by the end of the school year in order to pass the class. When I heard that, I was scared. I was scared because I didn't know I could read that much books in a year. But to tell you the truth, I didn't read all the time because I was too tried to read, but if it is a good book like HomeBoyz and A Child Called "It",I would stay up all night to read the book. Some of the books that I read, I really don't understand them. But one way that made me understand what I am reading is, I have to write down what is going on in the book. Another way is to stop at the end of a paragraph and talk to myself and find out what is the main idea of that paragraph. The person that thought me to do that is Mr.Locker.
