Welcome!

Hey,"Lets Be Friends" is done by two student's, Nashwah and Tyeisha, in the eight grade humanities year, at University Neighborhood Middle school! It has been a great year for both Nashwah and Tyeisha although at times Mr. Locker has been hard on them. They even at times wanted to tell him a thing or two, but have learned it was done in their best interest. Pushing them to their true level has really given them the strength and courage they have today. As you read and hopefully enjoy their blog, you'll see how they have grown in humanities this year!!

ENJOY!!

Readinq Reflection (Nashwah Daniels)

I have a very unique and diffrent reading style, however in the eight grade i've learned alot of new habits that I will now take to high school and beyond.
In the beginning of the school year in early september, I've never really looked behind the scenes ("thinking outside the box") as we speak. When the class read "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, not only was it tough on life lessons, the book was tought me as well. How to read between the lines and or to look for deeper meaning was especially difficult for me. Not everything is on the surface! This is just one of the many habit's I've learned this year. I can truly say I've not only grown as a reader, but I've grown as a person looking deeper into a situation and looking under the surface of any given topic. I've noticed you can actually learn alot as you look deeper into a story. When I was 10 years of age, my dad left my mother, brother and I. At first, I didn't understand why but when you look at an issue on the surface, you are not going to be as compassionate and understanding as you would if you just looked at it under the surface. That is a great life skill I can say I've learned in eight grade humanities!
The second great habit I've learned in the eight grade is to revise every two chapters every time I read. This is very helpful to get the main drift of the story, and therefore helps you write better reading reflections.
My last but not least reading habit is to act out most of the scenes in my mind, to help me understand the scence to the best of my ability!
There are alot more qualities I've learned in humanities, however these top three I picked is the most important foundational qualities any good writer needs to have!
